Not that I didn't have this on preorder anyways, the fine people from @stylophone_official sent me their newest model, the Stylophone Beat! This is less beatbox, more groovebox compared to their older drumsynth (beatbox). It's back to (fixed) samples but they sound a lot better here. The sequencer is now note based instead of sampling based meaning you can erase notes and transpose. It is also quantized and the clicktrack is VERY welcomed. You can layer some drum sounds from one of 4 kits and have a monophonic bass sequence. You can then switch between the kits/ bass sounds and apply beat repeat effects. The sequence stays in time which is awesome. I also really like the low pass filter effect that automatically fades in and out nicely depending on how long you press the pad. You can mute one individual drumsound or all. And you can temporarily (until power off) store 4 patterns and switch between them in time. The speaker is good enough. Have I mentioned the price? It's only 35 bucks! I believe that's the cheapest groovebox out there. I can wholeheartedly recommend it as an entry into the budget synth world. Thank you again, @stylophone_official !
