Mark Peotter made this video to help the viewer choose which Synthetic Reeds might be good to try. There are many Brands, and Types within Brands. Watch and listen to him demonstrate the same musical passages on 10 different Reeds from 5 different manufacturers.

The 10 Reeds will be:
1. Rico "Plasticover" 2.5 - unlike the other reeds, this one is not fully synthetic.
2. LeGere "Signature" 2.5
3. LeGere "Signature" 2.75
4. "Fibracell" 4.0
5. "Fibracell" 4.5
6. LeGere "Studio" 2.5
7. LeGere "Studio" 2.75
8. Harry Hartman "Fiberreed" MH (medium hard)
9. Harry Hartman "Fiberreed" H (hard)
10. Forestone "White Bamboo" 3.5

Also mentioned, but not demonstrated:
LeGere "Classic"
Forestone "Traditional"

Harry Hartman also makes other types of Synthetic Reeds, not demonstrated.

Just as with natural reeds, Synthetic Reeds do gradually "wear down", becoming more pliable, with use. The 10 Reeds shown were in various degrees of previous wear. In the interest of accurate disclosure:
Reeds Number 1 , 2 , 10 were nearly new, with less than 1 hour use.
Reeds Number 3 , 5 , 7 , 8 are slightly used, with 2 to 3 hours use.
Reeds Number 4 , 6 , 9 are broken-in, with over 10 hours use.

The intention of the video is to educate the viewer and to benefit from Mark's experiences. Mark Peotter does not endorse any brand, nor is he paid to promote any certain product.

In whole, Mark prefers the sound and feel of natural cane reeds. However, he often performs with synthetic reeds in situations where playing multiple instruments is required, or when there are long intervals between songs.
