I have browsed through numerous rewards and air miles credit card content, including blog articles, videos and podcasts and a lot of them has recommended the UOB Preferred Platinum Visa card (UOB PPV). But you realised I have not recommended this card even in my top miles credit card video, and I will explain why in this video


1. Why UOB PPV is a popular card:
10x / 4 mpd on mobile contactless, online shopping & entertainment
$30,000 p.a. income requirement, entry level
1st year annual fee waived
First S$1,110 Eligible Spend based on STATEMENT MONTH, posted date
9x Bonus UNI$ capped at 2,000 UNI$ per statement month
UNI$ can be converted to 4 mpd at 5000 UNI$ = 10,000 Air miles

2. Why it is not a good card (to me)
$5 blocks: Spent $4.80 on mobile contactless, 0 miles
Sub-conscious to buy something small, upsize to hit the next $5
Not counted as Credit card spend for UOB One account 5%
Not all online spend
Visa cannot pair with amaze
UOB$ merchants earn nothing

3. Use Case
Best used for large spend only, due to the $5 block rounding & UOB$ merchants irrritation, making it unsuitable for small daily spends less than $100
