His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI has accepted the resignation of Most Rev.A. Malayappan Chinnappa, SDB, from the pastoral care of the Archdiocese of Madras-Mylapore, according to Canon Law 401 § 1, and has appointed Most Rev. George Antonysamy, till now Apostolic Nuncio in Liberia, Gambia and Sierra Leone, as Archbishop of Madras-Mylapore.

This Ecclesiastical Provision was made public in Rome on Wednesday, 21st November, 2012 at noon local time, corresponding to 16:30 hours, Indian Standard Time.
