I had several plunge routers over the last 20 years, but I don't know what is that straight edge in the base of the plunge router for. Some people say I should put it against the fence when I route a groove or when I use some router jigs. But if I put it against the fence, then any little turn of the base will mess up the straight groove, while if I put the curved edge of the base against the fence, it doesn't mind if I turn the base when I route the groove, because the router bit will always be at the same distance and it will make a straight groove. So, what do you think about that feature in this woodworking tool? Is it to use with woodworking jigs? Do you know what is that straight edge for?

As you can see in the video, it is helpful to change the router bit.
