Welcome to the official YouTube channel of the King of Soul - Otis Redding. As one of the most influential and powerful singers of the 1960’s, his songs “Sittin on the Dock of the Bay,” “Try a Little Tenderness," “Hard to Handle,” and albums ‘Pain in My Heart,’ ‘Otis Blue’ and ‘Tell the Truth’ are beloved across generations and remain classics to this day.

Born in Georgia, Redding began his career at a young age in school choirs and bands and developed his raw and expressive voice. Redding signed with Volt Records in 1962 after they heard his rendition of “These Arms of Mine” during a recording session with Johnny Jenkins. Over the next few years, Redding released a string of hits, became a tireless live performer, and honed his songwriting abilities before his 1967 death in an unexpected plane crash. Redding became even more famous after his death with the release of his most popular track to date, “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay” and his legacy as the King of Soul lives on.
