At Morehead Commando Training Center, on the outskirts of Kabul, Afghanistan, new Commandos are being trained by Afghan trainers, with the support of coalition forces at NATO's Resolute Support Mission.

Special Forces conduct most offensive operations in Afghanistan. In 2017 president Ashraf Ghani announced his plans to double the number of the Afghan National Army’s elite Special Forces, as an essential part of his Roadmap for the future.
