ভারত সরকার ১১ ই মার্চ ঘোষণা করেছে যে এদিন থেকেই সংশোধিত নাগরিকত্ব আইন চালু হতে যাচ্ছে। ২০১৯ সালে এটি পাশ করা হলেও এত দিন আইনটির রুল তৈরি হয়নি। এখন সে কাজ সম্পন্ন করে আইনটি বলবৎ করেছে সরকার। এই রুল অনুযায়ী ভারতে নাগরিকত্বের জন্য আবেদন করা যাবে অনলাইনে।
২০১৯ সালে আইনটি পাশ হওয়ার আগে ও পরে ভারতজুড়ে ব্যাপক বিক্ষোভ হয়েছিল। দিল্লি, কলকাতা, আসামসহ দেশের বিভিন্ন শহরের সেইসব বিক্ষোভে মারা গিয়েছিল কিছু মানুষ।
নাগরিক সংগঠন, বিজেপি-বিরোধী রাজনৈতিক দলগুলো ও মুসলিম সংগঠঅগুলো ওই সব বিক্ষোভে শামিল হয়েছিল।
এখন নাগরিকত্ব আইন বুঝতে হলে কিছু বিষয় আমাদেরকে জানতে হবে
