The 10th song from my Warhammer Metal project and my favourite one. I'm delighted you lot are enjoying these songs so much! If I was to pick my main metal style it would be this. A blend of European melodic death meta mixed with American metalcore, topped off with some power metal influence and a touch of 80s shred.

Another song from the POV of a Primarch. This time Corvus Corax, the Raven lord and gene father to the XIXth Legion. I put a lot of work into these lyrics. Corax has so much inspiration to draw from so I wrote three long verses. The first verse is about the Great Crusade, liberating his homeworld and bringing the Imperium's law & order to the galaxy but he has reservations about his unnatural abilities. The second verse is about the Horus Heresy, he contemplates about the DAOT and how humanity's great empires are destined to fall, wondering if the loyalists had foreseen treachery and rebellion from his brothers but failed to act, his folly in trying to rebuild his legion after Isstvan and his transformation into his warp form. The third verse is Corax confronting the Emperor on the Golden throne. I tried to really capture Corax's anger and ferocity in this verse, the death toll of the Horus Heresy and what the future holds for the Imperium. The chorus? That's him lamenting the Great Crusade while he beats on the door of Lorgar's tower(Ok this last bit isn't canon but it is a great image and fan fiction is just one pay cheque away from being canon).

And lastly the music is meant to portray flying. The intro is to give the idea of soaring through the air. The drums are footsteps before taking off, the slides throughout the song are to simulate dives and the final drum beats at the end of the song are to give the image of Corax landing, think of someone landing with a parachute and they take a few steps as they hit the ground before stopping. It's difficult to express this verbally so hopefully it makes more sense listening to the song with the image of flying.

Lyrics:
Verse 1:
On Silent wings concealed in shadow
A storm of blades only death could follow
Where anarchy ruled or tyranny reigned
I would bring deliverance and break these chains
But strip the facade and lay it bare
For underneath the veil is there
Fraternal guise and blinded youth
We are forced fed tragedy of modern man

Chorus:
Father, Brother, Grand protector
I was once saviour, a liberator
With righteous cause I fanned the flames
To herald in a glorious age
Traitor, Coward, Grand deceiver
You damned us all with your path of treason
If the ashes settle how can we atone
When the blood of angels paint the stars

Verse 2:
On and on again and again
The cycle spins without end
From every height we're doomed to fall
Sentience and vision to the ruin of all
Were we so blind to what would befall
Brother killing brother how I failed you all
So rest my sons and be at peace
I will find vengeance in perennial beast

Verse 3:
Take a look at what remains
A trillion graves and our race enslaved
The dream is dead turned to nightmare
Yet we cling on to this failing empire
From blind devotion came the fall
Now stagnant waters cover all
Deliverance? Pure hypocrisy
The only truth? We were never meant to be
