The Whitnall School Forest received MMSD's Green Luminary® award; this unique educational site offers a variety of educational and enrichment opportunities to students, families, and the community.

In 2023, MMSD contributed funding to further improve the forest by helping manage the flow of water in the forest, removing invasive and hazardous trees, and planting a variety of 250 native trees to help manage more water where it falls.

A Green Luminary® helps protect our rivers and Lake Michigan by adopting practices that harvest rainfall for other uses or mimic nature by draining it into the ground to reduce water pollution. https://mmsd.com/about-us/news/mmsd-g...
