   • Sandhill Cranes and Snow Geese - Phot...

My first visit to New Mexico and Bosque del Apache for the Festival of the Cranes. My goal was to photograph the Sandhill Cranes and Snow Geese back-lit against the mountain background as they were flying in to roost for the night. I didn’t get exactly what I was after but I was able to get creative with a few images. I was particularly happy with the Coyote Silhouette that was an unexpected encounter. I didn’t do any prep and only showed up at this well known roosting pool just before sunset for this outing. The area is very well known for the birds to gather at this spot so I knew there would be subjects to photograph.
