Follow Lou as he sets out to find the elusive Black Trumpet mushroom in our home state of Maine! Black Trumpets (craterellus fallax or cornucopioides) are delicious, tubular shaped edible mushroom that can be found in hardwood forests near the base of trees or in low-lying mossy patches. Those who have managed to find Black Trumpets, praise them for their light, fruity-flavor and aroma.

In this video, Lou shows us his process for properly identifying and foraging Black Trumpet mushrooms. And along the way, he also finds other edible species including the famed chanterelle mushroom (Cantharellus sp.) and the lesser known, but equally delicious, Hedgehog mushroom (Hydnum repandum).
