A couple on vacation tried to get to a remote high elevation lake to do some fishing, and headed out into the woods early in the morning. Unfortunately they didn't know that the Department of Forestry would be coming along a little later that morning to close the road and light aa control burn in the area. The couple made it to the northern end of the burn zone before becoming stuck in the snow. After fighting it for awhile they called me to come pull them out. As I was heading down to get them we both started to realize that they were stuck in the burn zone and that the road they went in on, which was also their only way out, was on fire. I worked with the forestry department and the local ranger district to come up with a plan of how to get to them using some four wheel drive trails and a game of connect the dots with some forest service roads that were within the burn zone, but not on fire at the time. Luckily a south wind kept the fire from moving in our direction and I was able to get them out of the snow, then lead them back down to a meetup point with the firefighters, so that they could escort us through the fire and back to the other side
