From Imnaha, Oregon, travel north on the Lower Imnaha River Road(County Road 755) for 6.5 miles. As the road continues it becomes Forest Road 4260, also known as the Dug Bar Road. Continue on Forest Road 4260 for 24 miles to the end along the Snake River to the boat launch.
This is a high clearance 4-wheel drive road.

This is a fun drive along a dirt and sometimes rocky road.
You will drop steeply down into the Imnaha River Valley.
Follow the river for a few miles before climbing out of the canyon only to again drop steeply down and having to climb back up another side canyon before finely descending down to the Snake River at Dug Bar.

"This is also a historic site for the Nez Perce Nation"
"A small but significant section of the Nez Perce Trail is located on the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area, Wallowa-Whitman National Forest along the Snake River. The Journey began the spring of 1877 when Chief Joseph led his people across the flooding Snake River near Dug Bar. Following U.S Army orders to move from the Wallowa Valley to the Lapwai Reservation in Idaho. Women, children and the elderly were crossed on horsehide rafts pulled by swimming horses with no losses. However several thousand head of horses and cattle were forced to swim the river with considerable losses."
