Communicating with parents in their home languages has never been easier thanks to advances in educational technologies that allow for real-time translation. In this session, we will discuss the pros and cons of machine translation and review translation tools currently available, including some of the lesser-known features in Powerpoint, ClassDojo, SeeSaw, and TalkingPoints. Attendees will also learn how translated communication fosters an asset-based culture of inclusivity where the home language is viewed as a linguistic resource instead of a hindrance to language acquisition.
