I wasn't joking when I said this was one of my new favourite restaurants in Toronto...
Welcome to Little Manila in North Toronto where we tried Kamayan. It means “by hand” in Tagalog, referring to a traditional Filipino style of eating communally, and without plates or utensils.
Usually a table is covered in banana leaves, a natural substitute for plates…and then topped with the most amazing array of different foods. If you're a Canadian trying Filipino food for the first time, a Kamayan (also known as Boodle fight) is a great way to try lots of different Filipino tastes.
If you're in Toronto, Canada you need to check out Little Manila for some seriously good Filipino eats.
