Agroforestry practices are heralded for their ability to produce both production and conservation benefits. The NRCS has a long history of providing technical and financial assistance to encourage conservation in New York State.


This webinar provides a brief overview of how farmers and private landowners can work with the NRCS. It will include a discussion of NRCS programs and practices that can support the design and implementation of agroforestry systems and share some examples of producers who have successfully implemented agroforestry practices with NRCS assistance.


With Erin Kurtz, the District Conservationist for the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service covering Tompkins, Cortland, and Schuyler Counties.


also Mike Fournier, who has served as NY NRCS’s State Staff Forester since 2012. He has served as a Resource Conservationist with NRCS for 32+ years in NY, VT, and NJ. Prior to his career with USDA, he was a District SWCD Forester for 5 years. Mike graduated from ESF in 1985 with a BS in Forest Resource Mgt.
