This talk features Humphrey Fellow Pierre Lovens Mérolien discussing the role of women throughout Haitian history. He traces these societal accomplishments from 1492 through current day, with its ebb and flow of inclusion of women in leadership roles.
About the speaker: Pierre Lovens Mérolien is a Humphrey Fellow at the Maxwell School of Syracuse University and was most recently the Presales Engineer at Digicel Haiti, where he developed business solutions products and design and acted as Digicel’s resident expert on ICT applications. After his fellowship, he plans to help increase the awareness of technological impact in areas such as telecommunication regulation and good governance in Haiti. Lovens has also worked on an early warning system that communicates flood levels to the government. He received a degree in Telecommunication and Electrical Engineering from the University of Pinar Del Rio in Cuba.
