In my on-going search for the weird, strange, and unique, I visited an abandoned dinosaur-themed miniature golf course in Apple Valley, California. As the legend goes, in the 1970's, an Apple Valley resident planned to construct a dinosaur-themed miniature golf course, but unfortunately once completing about 37 concrete dinosaurs, lost interest in the project. Over the decades, time has been harsh on these sculptures: heads are missing, bodies are sagging, and the general decay of time. The results have created a “Mad Max” theme that has increasingly become popular with photographers and roadside travel guides. This was my second visit to this site, and the dinosaurs still make me smile. For those that are interested, these sculptures are located near the intersection of Tenaya Road and Cahuilla Road, Apple Valley, California. The sculptures are on private property which will require permission for entry.
