“We thought of our circuits as characters in a script, and used the unfolding of pitches as they came out of the circuit. We didn’t control the pitches at all. The emotions which seemed to come out of the circuit, such as romance, monsters, space travel, were almost always in uppermost importance. Each circuit we built had lifespans of their own…

“We always were innocents with a sense of wonder and awe at the beauty coming from the circuits… we would just sit back and let them take over. We didn’t want to control them at all. We were in a very receptive state, like that of a child working with our eyes and minds open, paying attention to the potential of each circuit, and we were simply amazed at what great things came out of those circuits.”
