It was a morning ride to a less known waterfalls near Bangalore known as GANALU FALLS. This falls is flowing in an unexplored place near Ganalu village.

The best time to visit this falls is during peak monsoon since water flow will be good. Post Ganalu village there is a pure off-road of 2.5 kms to reach the falls arena and post that there is a 500 meters of pleasureful stiff trekking in between green woods.

Located just 100 km away from the city of Bangalore, Ganalu Falls is close to Shivanasamudra. A cascade of shallow water flows on rocky terrain and the backdrop is breathtaking, more so because it is undiscovered and yet to get commercial. The ride or drive to the location will be a smooth one till you reach Ganalu village. It’s not going to be easy to reach the falls since there is only a trail but you can always ask the friendly villagers for help. The last 500 metres will be an easy hike but we recommend you wear shoes which offer a good grip and support.


On reaching the waterfall, if you are fit enough, you can climb down to explore. However, be warned that the path is steep and can be quite a challenge to climb back up. There are no restaurants, eateries or vendors selling food so do carry your refreshments and maybe even a picnic lunch and a garbage bag (be a good Samaritan and littering will always be frowned upon!). If you have more time on hand, take a ride through Basavana Betta Forest which will be all bloom in green after rains.
