Meaning of Rights and Obligations of Citizens

Rights are all things that you earn or acquire. This can be in the form of authority or power to do something. Every right acquired is a result of the implementation of obligations.

In other words, new rights can be obtained if the obligations have been carried out. For example, an employee has the right to get wages, if he has carried out the task or work assigned to him.

Meanwhile, human rights are rights that are inherent in every human person. Therefore, human rights are different from the understanding of citizens' rights.

Citizen rights are a set of rights inherent in human beings in their position as members of a state.

Human rights are universal, regardless of a person's citizenship status. However, the rights of citizens are limited by their citizenship status.

In other words, not all citizens' rights are human rights. However, it can be said that all human rights are also the rights of citizens.

For example, the right of every citizen to occupy a position in the government of the Republic of Indonesia is only the right of Indonesian citizens. This provision does not apply to people who are not Indonesian citizens.
