On 5 November 2003, Girls Aloud spoke to ITN about the band's difficult year following Cheryl Tweedy's conviction for assault. Having been charged with racially aggravated assault following a drunken altercation with nightclub toilet attendant Sophie Amogbokpa in January of that year. Tweedy was later found guilty of assault but cleared of the racially aggravated assault charge. The singer was sentenced to 120 hours of community service. Flanked by bandmates Nadine Coyle, Sarah Harding, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh, Cheryl apologised to her fans and her family. She insisted that her being drunk at the time of the assault was not relevant and assured her interviewer that she would still be going nightclubbing.

Girls Aloud have announced they will be reuniting for a UK arena tour in 2024, in "celebration" of their late bandmate, Sarah Harding, who died from breast cancer in 2021.
