Host Emma Wulfhorst is joined by Dr. Javeed Sukhera, Chief of Psychiatry at Hartford Hospital and founding Director of the new Center for Research on Racial Trauma and Community Healing. He explains the main goals of the new initiative including better understanding the physical and mental effects of racial collective and generational trauma. Dr. Sukhera describes some of the culturally affirming support groups they’ve started, community-based projects and policies along with informed care internally. Working with new A.I. software to oversee doctor bias and discrimination paired with these conversations, he details how they hope to earn trust and improve care within these communities.
