Part one of our living room makeover - upgraded our Ektorp to a Kivik 5-seat corner sectional sofa with chaise lounger in Hillared Dark Blue. Enough space for our family of 5 to lounge around and should still be big enough with 3 teens in a decade haha!! Set-up took about 2.5 hours with hubby putting fitting it all together and me putting on all the cushions and breaking down and taking boxes downstairs. All in all not too bad, and we LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! Fabric is rougher than I'd like, almost like a burlap, which is fine to lay/sit on but not fun to spend hours pulling all those tight covers on the cushions! They seem very durable though, and a color that will hide grunge and stains that are inevitable with young kids, but they are washable, which is a huge bonus and the main reason I went with Ikea!!

**UPDATE: see our 1.5 year update here    • Our Ikea Kivik After 1.5 Years with 3...
We've had the sofa for almost 1.5 years now and it's doing great!!! Nothing is getting out of shape - still firm despite kids jumping on it like a trampoline, and throwing the pillows around the room to make forts.. We've had some minor spills but everything wiped up and we haven't had to wash yet. The chase is not ideal position for reclining - puts your neck and back in an awkward position, so take note if you are sensitive. My husband hates that I lounge there nightly - it doesn't bother me but he says it will after long term... The material still bothers me a wee bit, it's quite rough and when i have to stick my hand underneath and run it along to try to find something the kids lost, it's not a great feeling but my hands are SUPER sensitive, it doesn't bother anyone else in my family.

So, all in all I do highly recommend it! Great bang for your buck, comfy, looks great, very durable! I'm not looking forward to moving house with it, which will likely be in the next year or 2, but I'm sure the movers will figure out how to break it apart and reassemble it without too much trouble??
