In February BANDALOOP was honored to present the world premiere of FLOOD, a new work commissioned by The Momentary in Bentonville, Arkansas for their grand opening festival. FLOOD is a groundbreaking collaboration with two incredible San Francisco Bay Area based artists, creative technologist Osman Koç and composer Ben Juodvalkis, and BANDALOOP's own Melecio Estrella as choreographer.

Dancing outdoors, BANDALOOP's work is always in conversation with elemental realities - sunlight, precipitation, wind, air quality and temperature. We may think we are in control, but eventually Nature shows us who is really in charge. During this pandemic underscored by climate chaos, it is plain to see how vulnerable we are to forces larger than us. In honor of Earth Day, BANDALOOP premiered FLOOD online yesterday in celebration of the ecosystems to which we belong, with reverence and responsibility. May we step forward in care for our planet and each other.

Featuring projection design informed by fluid dynamics, new choreography, and a musical score steeped in rhythmic fluidity, FLOOD is an exploration of water: its trajectories, its ability to deconstruct, to take our breath away...and its power to make us float.
