In this video we take a ride onboard a Metro Trains Melbourne Siemens EMU on the Cranbourne/Pakenham lines between Flinders Street and Dandenong. This particular train is operating a Dandenong service towards the end of the morning peak, stopping all stations from Flinders Street to Dandenong, with the exception between South Yarra and Caulfield where we run express.

Along the way we ride along the various sections of Skyrail, which consists of three sections of elevated concrete viaducts along the line completed in 2018 to remove nine level crossings between Caulfield and Dandenong. This resulted in Carnegie, Murrumbeena, Hughesdale, Clayton, and Noble Park stations being rebuilt. There's a number of other modernised stations along the line, with Westall being upgraded in 2010, Springvale being grade separated in 2014, and Oakleigh recently upgraded.

The Siemens trains entered service between 2003 - 2006 and were ordered by National Express to replace their fleet of Hitachi trains on their half of the network during the early days of privatisation. Along with the 1980's Comeng EMU, the Siemens fleet have been operating along the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines for many years. However these trains will shortly be displaced from these lines; replaced with new High Capacity Metro Trains which are currently entering service on these lines.
