This video demonstrates traditional fire cupping.
Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. People receive cupping for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage.

According to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), cupping is done to dispel stagnation (stagnant blood and lymph), thereby improving qi flow, in order to treat respiratory diseases such as the common cold, pneumonia and bronchitis. Cupping also is used on back, neck, shoulder and other musculoskeletal conditions. Cupping is not advised, in TCM, over skin ulcers or to the abdominal or sacral regions of pregnant women.

Fire cupping is done by putting a small flame from a cotton swab into the glass cup for a second and putting the cup directly on the skin. The heat creates the suction which pulls out toxins and boosts the immune system. It also moves blood, and improves circulation to aid the heart and spleen. Cupping can also help with disturbances of menses and digestion. Cupping can go 4 inches deep into the body to pull out toxins from the liver and kidneys. Cupping can also be done with plastic, silicon, or glass cups that use a suction gun to be applied.
