"A Fine Romance" was written by Jerome Kern and Dorothy Fields for the 1936 classic film, "Swing Time," featuring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. At a certain point in the writing process, Kern felt that the show needed a "sarcastic love ballad." Fields knew what he meant, went home and penned all of the lyrics to this witty and enduring song.
