Make a Christmas Trees Pop Up Card with Surrey Heritage

You will need:
red, green and brown paper
scissors
glue
pencil
Optional: pom poms, sequins

1. Fold the red piece of paper in half. This will be your card base.

2. Fold the green piece of paper in half and cut along the fold.

3. Take one of the green halves of paper. Fold the paper back and forth on the shorter edge.

4. Take the green paper strip and mark five sections with a pencil. Make the first section thicker and then each section smaller than the last. Cut the sections.

5. To make the tree trunk take a piece of brown paper and cut it into a small strip. Fold in half and then in half again. Glue the edges either side of the fold on the red paper near the bottom.

6. Glue the longest strip of green paper above the tree trunk on the left side of the card centre fold. Continue to glue each strip from large to small. Leave space at the top for a star. Wait for the glue to dry.

7. Now add glue to the other side of the green strips. Fold the right side of the card onto the glued strips and hold until the glue dries.

8. Now you have your pop up tree.

9. Decorate the tree however you like. Add pom poms, sequins, glitter or anything else. Remember to write your Christmas message.
