The 2003 Busch Series had one of the most exciting point battles of all time. Early on, Todd Bodine was the championship favorite, as he led the points and won one of the most exciting Darlington races of all time. However, his team would shutter after running out of sponsorship, opening the door for a 6-way fight for the championship. Jason Keller, Scott Riggs, Bobby Hamilton Jr., Ron Hornaday Jr., and David Green would all come within 89 points of the championship; however, Brian Vickers, driving for Hendrick Motorsports, would score 3 wins and score the only Busch Series championship for Hendrick.
