ON March 27th, 1964, 50 years ago today, the strongest earthquake in U.S. recorded history struck South Central Alaska. This is a reflection of the Status of Seward Alaska during this great disaster. The small town of Seward, at the time with a population of 1800, was a model community for Civil Defense functions. I hope you enjoy the history of this great event in Alaska and in particular, the City of Seward's history.
