In this video we try our hand at the process known as Shou sugi ban with a small piece of Alder to make some homemade rustic barn wood. Shou sugi ban, or yakisugi, is a Japanese wood-burning technique that brings out the natural patterns of wood while also weatherproofing it. And it’s been around for hundreds of years.
