Created by TCN-9 executive Bruce Gyngell and modelled on the successful American musical /variety show of the same name, Bandstand was hosted by the ever-charming Brian Henderson and set the TV standard for 14 entertaining years, showcasing the very best of Australian and international Pop and Rock'N'Roll music of the 60s and 70s.
In 1967 Bandstand celebrated one of Britain's most popular and versatile female vocalists. In the humble words of host Brian Henderson, "this special presentation is perhaps the most polished and professional Bandstand ever made."
Successfully making the transition from folk-pop to soul, international music sensation Dusty Springfield sings 12 solo songs on this special artist presentation of Bandstand, featuring guest performers Freddie Paris and John Sangster. Included in this recording are the soul classics: "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me", "I Only Want To Be With You", "All I See Is You", "Little By Little", "My Colouring Book", "Twenty Four Hours in Tulsa", "Stay Awhile", "Wishin' and Hopin'", "In The Middle of Nowhere", "I Just Don't Know What (To Do With Myself)" and "What' It Gonna Be".
Featuring a casual sit-down interview, where the singer discusses her past and the demise of The Springfields, the classy songstress also performs two lively duets - "Anything You Can Do" with Freddie Paris and "The Morning of the Carnival" with multi-instrumentalist John Sangster.
