20 years ago, Slovenia sent all of its waste to landfill sites: now around 70% of waste in Ljubljana, the Slovenian capital, is recycled.
But they haven't stopped there: the city has committed to go 'zero waste' in the future, meaning no waste will go to landfill.
The BBC's Ben Tavener travelled to Slovenia to see the results of the country's "waste revolution" for himself.
