After taking the paperwork to DMV, getting a VIN inspection done, and even getting handed registration so that I could use it, I was patiently waiting for the title and plates to show up in the mail. But what I got instead was some very bad news. I’ve given all the paperwork and information I have to the sheriff’s department, and had a long interview with a DMV investigator as well that both cleared me of any wrongdoing, but unfortunately I have no recourse to get my money back. Even in the slim chance that law enforcement was able to find the thief, I would still have to figure out how to get my money out of him, and the chances of actually getting paid would basically be zero. This is a pretty big hit and a real bummer. It’s the first time I’ve ever bought something in brand new condition and it was a very welcome change to finally have something nice that didn’t need some sort of work done to it. Oh well, shit happens and there’s nothing else to do but move on and power through it.
