On August 3, 2019 my hometown of El Paso, TX lost 23 innocent souls to a domestic terrorist. One of the safest cities in the United States was attacked by someone who had never been there, fueled by hatred and fear of people different from him to murder innocent people in a predominantly Hispanic community.
We were all unimaginably shocked and heartbroken, and are forever changed, but El Paso will always respond to hate with unity, compassion, and love. We have 22 angels looking out for us now.
It's been six months since the tragedy, and this dance movement visual is my personal tribute to memorialize the memories of the victims of the 2019 Wal Mart shooting in my hometown. Whether you are from El Paso or not, I hope you can see the beauty of our diverse city through these dancers, and feel the unity, hope, and pride we all have in our multicultural city on the border.
I love you El Paso. #elpasostrong
