The Royals returned home to open a long homestand with a series against the Marlins and Cole Ragans on the mound. Ragans continued his stretch of terrific starts, striking out 11 over 6.0 innings of 1-run ball. The Royals trailed by a run headed into the bottom of the 4th but the game flipped in two pitches as Vinnie Pasquantino and Salvador Perez clubbed back-to-back home runs on back-to back pitches. Kyle Isbel added an RBI single later in the inning and Hunter Renfroe blasted a solo home run to open up a 4-1 lead which the Royals would not relinquish.
