Barbara Kalima-Phiri, the Chairperson of AFRODAD's board of trustees, emphasised on the significant increase in Africa's external debt, which rose from 19% to 29% of GDP between 2010 and 2022, and the disproportionate impact of debt servicing on women and children, particularly in terms of access to essential services like healthcare and education. Barbara calls for a feminist lens in debt restructuring, advocating for women's representation in decision-making processes as a fundamental human right.
