Joe Segal ( April 24, 1926 - August 10, 2020 ) founded the Jazz Showcase in 1947 and ever since he has anchored Chicago's jazz scene, as his slogan attests: "Come to where the HEAVIES are". So many of the musical masters in the jazz realm have graced his stage over the years. Chicago owes him a debt of gratitude. Lucky for us, his son Wayne has been continuing this noble tradition.
