đ Learn how to write the sum from a geometric series. A series is the sum of the terms of a sequence. A geometric series is the sum of the terms of a geometric sequence. The formula for the sum of n terms of a geometric sequence is given by Sn = a[(r^n - 1)/(r - 1)], where a is the first term, n is the term number and r is the common ratio.
To write the sum we will either be given the series as a sum or written in sigma notation. Either way, we will need to determine the rule of the sum by identifying the common ratio and first term.
