The Pembe za Ndovu, which translates to "elephant tusks" in Swahili, is a famous landmark located along Moi Avenue in Mombasa, Kenya.
Originally built in the 1950s out of wood to commemorate a visit by a member of the British Royal Family, the monument has undergone renovations over the years. Today, the Pembe za Ndovu consists of four aluminum tusks forming an "M" shape, which coincidentally also represents the first letter of Mombasa.
The Pembe za Ndovu is a popular spot for both tourists and locals to take pictures. It's also a great landmark to help you orient yourself as you explore Mombasa. The tusks are situated right across from the Uhuru Gardens, another popular attraction in the city.
