This Ruins QD OLED Monitors - HDR400 vs Peak 1000
Over the last year I’ve reviewed more HDR monitors than I can count, and by far my favorite display technology has got to be QD OLED when it comes to gaming thanks to its inky shadows, near instantaneous response times, and superior HDR color volume when compared to WOLED, but to my shock and pure disgust, there is a setting which I’ve seen a ton of users, and even some reviewers suggest you enable that, at least in my opinion as someone who reviews displays for a living will basically completely ruin this monitor.

That setting is the HDR peak 1000 mode on monitors, and despite 1000 being larger than 400, and the fact that it shows up as better in testing programs like Calman, today I’m going to prove why it’s worse by testing it in various games and in Windows using a professional light measuring device on a brand new 4K 240Hz Alienware AW3225QF, and show you how to get these best results out of your brand new monitor.
