Small, handy and very practical:
The remote control for the TP4 stationary heater from Eberspächer.
You can order the entire retrofit kit under order number B 6 6 56 0606.
It includes all of the components necessary for the retrofit.
Before starting installation, first disconnect the battery ground line.
The battery is located under the driver seat on the Sprinter.
Next, five panels have to be removed: first the panel underneath the instrument panel ...
... and the panel on the center console.
Then, on the passenger side, the lower panel in the footwell and the panel at the side of the glove box.
The fifth panel, again on the driver side, is the side cover for the fuses.
The next step involves routing the receiving antenna.
The sun visor must be removed on the driver side for this.
On the left-hand side, first remove these two screws.
Then disconnect the electrical connector.
On the right, there is a screw hidden beneath a flap on the opposite bracket.
Next, unclip the A-pillar trim using a plastic wedge.
Note: On the Sprinter, the trim is secured by a tether strap.
When you reinstall it later, this strap must be tightened to 5 Nm.
The tether strap is installed because the windowbag is located in the A-pillar.
It prevents the driver from being injured by the trim if the windowbag is triggered by an accident.
We continue on the left of the engine compartment at the fuse box.
Remove the cover of the fuse box.
Start by installing the receiving antenna for the remote control.
Stick a piece of self-adhesive velcro strip from the kit on to the antenna control unit.
In a moment, we will install the control unit in the footwell on the driver side.
However, it is best to fix the second piece of adhesive tape in place first.
It should be fixed in place on the metal support above the parking brake.
The control unit can now be safely stowed in the footwell using the velcro fastener.
The antenna must then be guided upwards.
In the next step, the antenna must be routed along the A-pillar.
It is best to use the attachments for the existing wiring harnesses as a guide.
At the top, simply press the antenna cable underneath the headliner through to the inside rearview mirror.
The antenna should be fixed in place with additional cable ties in the area of the A-pillar.
Cut off any excess cable tie ends.
The cable must now be connected to the receiver for the antenna in the footwell.
Next, the green cable from the wiring harness must be plugged into the connector ...
... for the stationary heater switch. This is PIN number 4.
When the new cable has been inserted, you can reconnect the switch from the rear.
The remaining cables of the wiring harness must be routed from the driver to the passenger side.
This is why the trim panel around the center console was removed earlier.
There is not much space but it is possible!
On the passenger side, the ground line must be connected to the "Firewall" ground.
To do so, remove the nut from the ground point in the front passenger footwell.
Connect the brown cable here. Then reinstall the nut.
The line is now routed further along.
The protective bag is sealed with a cable tie.
Open the protective bag using a suitable tool.
Disconnect the "Stationary heater" connector.
Plug the line from the wiring harness into PIN number 4.
Then reconnect the connector.
Stow everything safely away in the bag again and seal it with a cable tie.
,Next, route the "Radio signal receiver fuse" line from the interior compartment ...
... to the fuse box in the engine compartment.
Plug in the fuse.
The next step is teaching in the remote control: In the vehicle, press the "On" switch ...
... for the stationary heater until it starts to flash.
Then press the "On" button on the remote control.
Release the button when the LED of the switch goes out.
By the way, if you press the "Off" button of the remote control within 3 seconds, ...
.. up to four more remote controls can be taught in. Otherwise, just this one will be taught in.
The final function check shows that the remote control is operating properly.
The customer can now operate the stationary heater conveniently with the remote control.
