-Prince Rogers Nelson (aka Prince) was an American singer-songwriter, musician, and record producer from Minneapolis, MN born in 1958.
-Widely regarded as one of the greatest musicians of his generation and known for his flamboyant, androgynous persona; wide vocal range, and multi-instrumentalist.
-Producing his albums himself he pioneered the “Minneapolis Sound” and covered a wide range of genres including funk, R&B, rock, new wave, soul, synth-pop, pop, jazz and hip hop.
-His career spanned nearly 40 years from 1978 until his death in 2016.

-Title track from his 1984 album “Purple Rain” and the same year became the soundtrack for the movie “Purple Rain”.
-Ranked number 18 on Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time and included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.
-His performance of the song at 2007 Super Bowl halftime show, when actual rain fell during the performance and purple lights lit up the stage and stadium, is regarded as one of the best Super Bowl halftime shows of all time.
-It was also the last song he ever performed live, taking place at the end of his final performance in Atlanta on April 14, 2016, one week before his death.
