The ER101 was built after World War II. This section of road near Seixal is one of Madeira's most popular tourist attractions. This part of the road is currently closed to car traffic.
The road section is bypassed by two tunnels, which are 600m and 425m long. The bypass tunnels were opened to traffic on September 10 in 2000.
I traveled this road on a tourist bus back in 2011. At that time, the road was one-way. Unfortunately, the road has fallen into a very bad condition. I remember when a tourist bus went through these tunnels and bridges in 2011
