The invitation in 2019 to teach in Sao Paulo at the International Brass Festival and to perform a piece of own choice with the professional Orchestra of the Sao Paulo University was a challenge for Engelbert Schmid, which he accepted, "now or never again". After 25 years of no practice he trained very hard for 4 months to get back his playing capacity, and then for 2 months was on stage again, at the age of 64, that's why this row of live concerts and recordings are named "Engelbert Schmid 64". In the active time as solo horn of the Munich Radio Orchestra from 1978 to 1988 and the following soloistic performances until 1993, there exist more than 30 Radio recordings and CDs by Engelbert Schmid as a soloist and chamber musician, but no videos. Videos were quite unusual at that time. Then followed 25 years when Engelbert Schmid dedicated himself to making his world wide renown Engelbert Schmid Horns. Now with the row "Engelbert Schmid 64" we have nice documents, that Engelbert Schmid, now mainly known as the makers of his horns, knows everything about horn playing. Of course Engelbert Schmid himself would have a few wishes leftover about the perfection of these video performances. Have in mind that he was on stage again at the age of 64 after 25 years of break in playing the horn!
