October 30, 1878, one of the most famous army laundresses passed away. During her life, she was a hard working woman who was loved by all who knew her, and she would quickly be favored by Libbie Custer. But with her death, a mystery would surface, one that captured the entire nation. Mrs. Nash was a man.
The shock was felt by all but it was nothing compared to the shock her husband felt at this revelation.
The husband was corporal John Noonan, a trooper with the 7th Cavalry. Noonan returned to the Fort and found that his wife had died, he had a bigger shock when the women of the fort explained to him that his wife was a man !
