During the COVID pandemic, when playing music in groups wasn't allowed, I had the idea of playing solo with various instruments using a looper. I obtained a license from City Hall to stage public concerts on the boardwalk by the river. And it was a roaring success; people would gather round, sit on their blankets or the public benches, and just be immensely grateful that they could listen to some live music in those bleak times.
Today I still offer this set-up as a compact, self-contained, and affordable live music option for small stages, birthdays, house concerts and the like. Please contact me at [email protected] for details.
For the curious: after the effect chain, the guitar is fed through a digital octaver that only grabs the bottom two strings, creating the illusion of a bass. Foot percussion gives a basic drum groove. Together with the piano, all of this is fed through a stereo looper, which is synchronized with another looper on the microphone. In this way, I can create layered textures that create the illusion of a six-piece band.
The songs were recorded in the magnificent riverside garden of Schlossgalerie Haape in Caputh, https://www.schlossgalerie-haape.de/.
