Alien: Covenant (2017) is a science fiction horror film directed by Ridley Scott, and is part of the prequel to the Alien series, continuing the story line from 2012's Prometheus.
The plot follows a colony ship called the Covenant, which receives a mysterious signal while en route to a distant planet. The crew changes course and arrives at a seemingly habitable planet. However, they soon discover that the planet hides a great danger. The planet is actually inhabited by David (the surviving bionic man from the previous Prometheus), who is conducting horrific genetic experiments there to create even deadlier alien creatures. The crew must try to escape and avoid being hunted by these deadly aliens.
The movie explores philosophical propositions such as human creation, artificial intelligence, and the origin of life, while maintaining elements of a tense, bloody alien thriller.
